Mike has made a lifetime of bad choices. He stayed in a relationship that meant nothing and allowed his heart to be trampled because he never believed he deserved any better.

He learned, when he met Jade, just how wrong he had been. She was everything he ever wanted but was afraid to go after. The way she looked at him simply made him happy to be alive.
